Her Royal Highness......!

Time very happily spent with my colleague and friend today in King George II and Queen Caroline's State Apartments at Kensington Palace. What fun we had with these wonderful robes!

We learnt that this unusual style of dress was primarily to show how wealthy a husband was, the richness and quality of the fabric being best displayed in this way. Very interesting! Very uncomfortable too maybe.

We followed the childhood of Queen Victoria and her years with Prince Albert, and then really loved the exhibition of ceremonial dresses of modern royals including pieces worn by Princess Margaret and Princes Diana and the Queen.

A walk along the Serpentine in Hyde Park with a stop for refreshment, and then back to Victoria Station and home!
