Punting at Cambridge
Today we went to Cambridge and looked round the central part of the city including shops and the outside of some of the colleges that make up the University.
Visiting Cambridge is a bit like visiting London - full of foreign tourists in vast numbers. It is though great for people watching and I even managed some candid shots myself today. This view is taken from Garrett Hostel Lane Bridge over the River Cam behind the area of Clare and King's Colleges. Punting is a part of the city scene and students do it for visitors to supplement their income. Wealthy Japanese were spending visibly in the shops and going out on the river and at £12.50 per person, those running the punts were doing a very healthy trade! We didn't do it - mum would be seasick!!, but it is a good way to see parts of the city many won't usually see otherwise!
