Eva Rothschild
By virtue of some forward planning and bargain hunting by the Minx, we were both able to travel first class to London today for less than it normally costs me to go standard. Thus we enjoyed a comfortable journey south and then we walked down to the Modern Art gallery, near the Barbican, stopping only for a little sustenance on the way.
We were going to see the Eva Rothschild exhibition, which, sadly, neither of us particularly enjoyed. It was all a bit too abstract for me but the piece that I liked best was this one hanging from the ceiling, while the Minx favoured the wall-mounted black rug in the background. Still, if we liked everything we went to see, that would be a bit indiscriminate!
Happily, we had another reason to visit London and that was to go and see our friend Katie. We all met up at The Trinity Arms in Brixton, where, twenty-six years ago, I spent many an evening with my erstwhile bandmates. A rather pleasant evening eating and drinking in the pub garden was completed by the presence of Dean, whom I hadn't seen since we went for a swim in Kirkby Lonsdale, this morning, three hundred miles away!
