Dingo on beach

Another full day took us to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world, some 75 miles long and one big beach. The island can only be entered in a 4WD as there are no roads only tracks in the sand. 75 mile beach serves as both a highway and aircraft landing strip, with no rules ! Our tour guide was driving on the edge of the sea at 80 kmh.

The centre of the island has many rainwater lakes and dense rainforest, with very bumpy tracks.

Some of the highlight sightings, other than magnificent views, were dolphins, white cockatoo, the dingo and an azure kingfisher (press link to blipfolio). I cannot believe I didn't blip the kingfisher as its one of my fav birds. It was seen perched over a stream deep in the rain forest and quite dark under the canopy.

We saw 3 dingos in all, this one was seen paddling, his mate was further up the beach.
