Marmot

Today my family went hiking/geocaching/blipping up in Hatcher's pass. It was a chance to enjoy the gorgeous weather we've been having (finally, no more rain!). On the drive up to Summit Lake we saw this little guy on the side of the road. We pulled over and he walked up really near the car so I could take a photo of him close-up. The consensus is that he is an Alaskan marmot (here's another photo of him). I wasn't sure whether to use him as my blip; I took a photo of a stream we hiked to that I thought was really pretty. But in the end, I had to use him; he's just so cute!

My mom ended up going on a quest for the geocache, probably because she was sick of my dad and I photographing everything. She found it on the side of a semi-cliff under a rock, and we traded a keychain for this really cool mini Coke sign from 1974.

It was near the site of the geocache that I took the shots for my first ever panorama! Of course, I forgot the tripod in the car so I had to lop off mass quantities of top and side, but it was really cool to see the finished product.

All in all, a really fun day!
