You quickly get used to the Caledonian MacBraine ferry ships plying their way across the various lochs in western Scotland. they set a steady rhythm to the day once you are familiar with the timetables.
This is the 7.45 pm from Mull in to Oban. returning from a fabulous trip across Mull to Iona and Staffa.
The most memorable parts? Seeing puffin close up on the stark cliffs of Staffa and visiting John Smith's* grave in the churchyard on Iona.
* the leader of the Labour party who died too young. opening the way for tony Blair to become leader. Without getting political, seeing the grave in such a beautiful setting makes you ponder on what might have been if he had not died too soon.
