Remembering . . .
Today is Memorial Day in the United States. All across the US, parades remembering the men and women who have fought for our freedom.
Freedom and liberty are big issues in this country - although we momentarily forget. But Memorial Day remind us again of what it means to be an American and what it has cost.
I have shared before about my father. He was a true hero who fought bravely during WWII. He was involved in many of the major battles in Europe and the Pacific as what would now be called a special forces unit. When he came home, he suffered from what would now be termed Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. He never was treated for it and suffered from alcoholism all but the last fifteen years of his life. In spite of all that, he had a very successful career.
Thanks Dad! I love you and miss you!
This is somewhat of a "last minute" photo.
The last few days have been a little crazy. In addition to being behind on posting my photos, I am very behind in commenting. I hope to get caught up soon.
Please also see my backblips for Saturday and for Sunday.
