Sizzling California summer
It's 100F/38C, and we're out walking in the dry grass, Sue and her young sister and brother-in-law, their two teenagers, and us. Water is being rationed; people are pulling up lawns and adjusting their landscaping to desertification. There are deep worries about food for the whole country, as California has for decades been where our food came from.
