A Clematis named John Warren

This John Warren Clematis is very special to me, as it's my late husbands name. Of course not named after him, but I like to think so! The variety was developed by Walter Pennell between 1950-1962. It is struggling a bit in the garden this year, wind and rain taking their toll. The snails seem to be having a good chew on the one and only flower so far this year.
