Red Flowers

The quince is still blooming which might be a small solace to some.
After voting this morning we planned to go to the horse jumping but the cloud burst prevented this becoming a reality. We asked M and J round for curry, together with their visitors from somewhere East of Kiev. I'm not quite sure how the curry really went down, since what D bought last time in Warsaw really was much hotter curry powder than normal, still the mars bar sauce with the ice cream was a source of relief for some.

Poor old General Jaruzelski died today and Walensa wasn't as unsympathetic as he might have been, it's always a surprise what he comes up with. Views on Jaruzelski are of course rather mixed, but hero or not he will probably eventually be remembered as an unfortunate person who had to choose the lesser evils. In a funny way he changed our lives here in a way which at least we can thank him for, even if poor D was left stranded on an unlit airport wondering if the plane was ever going to leave. It did and that changed a lot of things, not that either of would find that out for a long time.
