Sargent and Self
This is a shot of the Rotunda at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. There are two angled mirrors situated so that one can get an entire view of the rotunda ceiling. There was no way to get this shot without getting my own mug in there... so there it is.
In the 1880's, the museum commissioned John Singer Sargent to decorate its new building’s most important public spaces, the grand staircase and rotunda, which resulted in one of Sargent’s last and most ambitious works. The murals were done on canvas, and then placed on the ceiling. I have flipped the shot so you can see the murals better.
