As we soar walls, every siren is a symphony
Literature, the written word, whether it be The Bard, Burns, Harper Lee, Steinbeck, Dickens, Difford and Tilbrook, Martin, or me, should be treasured.
Some literature should be more cherished than others.
Some literature is an education in itself.
Some literature is light and airy fairy - and is written for that reason.
Literature is an escape.
Literature is a world we can visit, in our heads.
Literature is the greatest source of learning.
Literature should not be removed from a reading list because "the Education Secretary" doesn't like the story.
English Literature, and this made me laugh - is not Literature about the Country England.
It is English Language Literature. Removing American Authors from GSCE Reading lists, does not make "GCSE English Literature Reading Lists" more "English".
My son has just completed a Batchelor of the Arts in English Literature... in AMERICA- he reads both British and American Authors.
Harper Lee wrote a story about humanity, and the lack of humanity; of racism, of injustice, of lies, of reality.
John Steinbeck wrote a book, which made me look at people beneath the surface - understand people more, want to learn about what makes people tick.
I am terrified that an Education Secretary, who also has a degree in English, has decided to remove these books from the GCSE Book lists... What kind of education man makes this decision?
