Identity crisis or scare tactics?

Just missed shooting this hawk enjoying a bit of roadkill sparrow for afternoon tea as a car roared past us both just before he was able to get his beak into it (and just before I was able to train my new lens on him!)

I think he was pretty peeved himself too so I'm not sure if this little foray into a flock of smaller birds was an attempt to scare them, catch one or resign his status as a bird of prey and join the masses of seed feeders.

I will capture a hawk one day!!!
