Ghostly Operations

Well, I went out on a jolly jaunt with a whirling dervish today. Chrissie and I had planned to visit Ramsbottom but the forecast was for torrential rain so we have postponed that little trip until Monday. Instead we went to see Stamford Military Hospital which has been recreated in Dunham Massey Hall. Between 1917 and 1919 the Hall was one of thousands of auxiliary hospitals created to treat the wounded of the First World War.

Unfortunately, millions of other people had the same idea as us...the place was heaving! You could hardly move around the house, mind you having a camera bag on your back was pretty useful as every time we turned round we managed to bat some old dear out of the way.

Actually, it was a day of bumping into things and people...I started off by bashing my head on a door then Chrissie nearly fell off a bench, we weren't really safe to be out! Once we were in the House the cameras were out and Chrissie was off...clicking here, clicking there, she was a woman possessed. "What are your settings on?" I kept asking her and each time the reply was, "Oh, I've not changed them." It was like keeping a child in check ha ha ha.

Feeling a bit peckish we decided that the cafe at Dunham would be full so we headed into Lymm. The cafe there was full to busting too....inside, so we sat on a table outside under a canopy. The rain was bouncing off the pavement but it is great sitting outside whilst it pounds around you.

Now I'm watching an old black and white adaptation of Wuthering Heights with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. I cannot live without my soul.
I've always loved the book, I think it might be time to reread it...again. I am Heathcliff.
