Shells from Falmouth
I have a glass bowl filled with little shells from beaches around Falmouth. They often remind me of happily beachcombing with my daughter when she was a fine art student there. Today, they made me thoughtful for a different reason.
Having been to a friend's final exhibition at Bristol this week, and knowing the effort that my daughter and her peers put into theirs, I can only begin to imagine the dreadful shock, sense of loss and bewilderment that the final year students and their tutors must be feeling after the fire at Glasgow's Art School, which may have destroyed all their artwork, supporting material from the last academic year and significant parts of the much-loved building, all just four hours before the deadline.
