The morning after....
Yesterday was a sad day in the world of Mackintosh, but so heart warming to receive so many responses of support from around the world.
I was in Glasgow early this morning and you can see from this shot of the west wing of the Mackintosh Building that smoke is still billowing out of the library windows.
Just heard the news that the Scottish and UK Governments are ready to put "millions" into the restoration of the Glasgow School of Art. Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander said the building was a "very important landmark" and said the government would contribute "in the millions, if necessary" to restore the "priceless gem".
The latest news is that Mackintosh's amazing Library is lost, along with some of his unique furniture. Unbelievably the Mackintosh Gallery and most of the Lecture Theatre has survived, along with much of the archives. The Fire Brigade must be applauded for their heroics in saving most of the Mackintosh Building.
Many thanks for your comments and support, it is very much appreciated.
