Towards Golden Cap

Not journaled anything for a few few days. Been busy getting everything sorted prior to a few weeks out of the office starting with a week in Dorset.

The journey down was one of the worst I've experienced in many years. A breakdown on the M5 caused horrendous tailbacks all the way up the M42 and with reports of miles of very slow moving traffic south of Bristol, I took an executive decision and did a re-route down the Fosse Way. The problem was that not having planned the journey and letting the satnav do all the work, I hadn't realised it was taking me through Bath until it was too late. Not good.

170 miles in five and a half hours - not a great average. It might have been quicker to stick with the motorways. It was the endless tractors and the drivers who congregate behind them rather than pass that doesn't help. Then those who do 40mph on a 60 mph road and then slow for the bends. Just so frustrating when it isn;t necessary.

Absolutely exhausted when I got here but still didn't sleep - like many, the first night in a strange location is disorientating.

Up early and a walk from the cottage straight up the hill behind us. This is a view across Seatown towards Golden Cap. I was still so tired I forgot to pick up a camera so its an i-Phone image.
