The lonely village

We drove past this well groomed, but seemingly abandoned settlement twice today and stopped both time to see who the residents were.

A local geocache provided the answer - thanks La Vista.

"Old buildings continue to sprout up and resettle in this area. After some time in this new environment each building rejuvenates into a new life of its former glory. In the right light, they glisten and glow, ready to chat about their past life. A recent newspaper article gave insight of this "retirement village". The Village is a private collection of Christchurch buildings that Diana, Lady Isaac has saved from demolition since 2000. How does a Lady save a village? One building at a time; often one brick at a time. Unwanted heritage buildings are transported here and restored on this site. Hopefully it will eventually be open to the public"
