The Last Blip
This is my final entry. After a lot of thinking I've decided it's time to end my blip journey. I've nothing left to share.
You Guys
To everyone who has followed my journal, I know I didn't get to meet most of you in person and that's my loss, but it feels through your own images and journals that I know a little bit about you all and I'd just like to say what a privilege and joy it's been to virtually meet you along the way. I have also been extremely lucky and fortunate enough to make a few real life in the flesh friendships that I hope will transcend these pages.
I know some of you have been and continue to be going through trying times and I want you to know that even in my silence you are still foremost in my thoughts. I hope to read nothing but good news in your entries to come. Yep, I'm too nosy to completely disappear and so I'll probably pop by now and again to see how life's been treating you all. I completely understand if you'd rather I didn't so just delete my subscription to your journal and I won't intrude.
Blip Highlights
With 12 hearts this is the image you favoured most. It's funny because I was a little disappointed with the shots from this manky Glasgow day but heh, just goes to show what I know!
Looking back through my journal over the past few days, for me there is one image that stands above the others where the composition, light and depth of field all came together to give me the image I saw in my mind's eye at the time I shot it, which is why a print of this, my favourite, will be the first to be hung when I finally get round to redecorating the hall.
I've been fortunate to have each of my blip days marked with a brief spell in the spotlight and although I never really took any stock of that page, there was one other shot out with those days which made it. Heh, easy to remember then, so I thought I'd add it here too.
History is a passion and so it plays a big part in those images which have meant the most to me. Closest of course is my series on the Castles of Scotland. I love these old ruins and their history is fascinating. Both the National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland do a wonderful job of preserving these buildings and informing the public of their past. If you get a chance, I urge you to visit them too.
The Titanic Centennial in 2012 gave me the opportunity to share some of the history surrounding this most famous of disasters. I was so happy that not only did those who viewed the series like it but in some cases learnt some things they didn't know before.
On a lighter note, intended as an "easy" alternative to more dark winter shots, my Smoke series quickly became a nightmare to control as I tried to create more elaborate images. Heh, what was this beast I created? Some were more successful than others, but it was fun though!
And finally... I know you'll be sick to death with me talking about Australia, but since I've rarely had the camera out of the bag since I returned I have nothing else to offer as a parting gift so for anyone who cares to look, you can view the images from my books here.
Take care everyone. P. x
The world does not have tidy endings. The world does not have neat connections. It is not filled with epiphanies that work perfectly at the moment that you need them.
