Ecclefechan
Just over the border into Scotland is the birthplace of Thomas Carlyle. he was a Victorian philosopher who wrote a history of the French revolution. He was committed to his birthplace and is buried there.
Ecclefechan is also the home of the famous Ecclefechan tart. A sort of mince pie tartlet. Drat! I didn't have one for my pudding after dinner at the local hotel. I didn't realise they are so well known. I am sure that Greg Wallace would be in heaven if he was presented with the buttery biscuit based delicacy on Masterchef.
And Ecclefechan is home to these lads who were playing football across the high street on Sunday afternoon.
