rocky bloom

This morning Hubby and I went for a hike in a nearby open space aptly named Red Rock Canyon.
The rock formations are gorgeous, and the trails meandering through them are plentiful.
So why did this Indian Paintbrush end up blooming on rock instead of in the soil nearby?
I think I sometimes make my own life harder than it has to be, too :-)
