polling station
Today, the British electorate went to the polls for the current European elections. This is a shot of my polling station, in Pontymoile Undenominational Christian Mission. Apparently, the UK votes today, whilst the rest of Europe vote on Sunday; & then the count takes place.
This is the first time my eighteen year old son has voted, so I've enjoyed sharing the experience with him; I've always impressed on him the importance of exercising ones universal suffrage - people have been killed so that we can vote (the 1839 Chartist Uprising - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newport_Rising).
