Meet the Morgans

By familymorgan

Today was the day of the nursery trip, however we had already decided Amelie wasn't going to join them. She was worried about being placed with someone (a grown up) she didn't know and because she's not been at nursery very long I didn't think she would miss out by not being there. So instead we decided to take a trip into Hitchin on the bus.

At the bus stop I met an old (perhaps around 90) man who asked if it was okay that he had a wee rest on the seat. He was Scottish, to my surprise, and we had a lovely chat about home. He's from Falkirk. I had to tell him I was from Scotland though because he never picked up my accent. He asked if my husband was Scottish too and when I replied "No, he's actually welsh" the old man laughed and said "well they're basically the same". Apparently he's living here with his daughter but they don't see eye to eye. He wants to go back to Scotland and said to me he thinks he might. He walks over 2 miles every day even though he has a bad leg and there's nothing they can do for him. It was only when he went to leave and said it had been lovely talking to someone from the same place then asked if I was Welsh, that I realised that no doubt he's here for his daughter to look after him and it's probably not an option for him to return home. Bless him.

All the while Amelie had been collecting snails behind the bus shelter and piling them up "for a party". There were, and I'm not exaggerating, about 40 snails. She bid them a good party and we boarded the bus.

In Hitchin we chose some new doodles for Isaac and had a wander round the shops. Isaac fell asleep and we nabbed the opportunity to have a sneaky Costa treat.

After a quick trip to boots we decided to head home before the rain started. We found out where the fast buses leave from (the same place as they stop!) but the slow bus arrived on the other side of the road and we ended up running across for it! Amelie loves a bus trip! The driver tried to warn me "it is long time" to Henlow Camp but I assured him we were well aware!

Home for lunch and fuzzy felt before Amelie begged me for Frozen. Honestly, do any other children's films exist right now? Amelie and Isaac danced together through the opening scene, completely unprompted! It was so funny!
