Young woman in contrapposto pose
This charming sculpture lies in Sorsapuisto park in Tampere. Nuori nainen (Young woman) was sculptured by Viktor Jansson in 1933. The model for the sculpture was Tove Jansson, the daughter of the sculptor.
Contrapposto is a classical pose created by the Greeks. The term is used in the visual arts to describe a human figure standing with most of its weight on one foot so that its shoulders and arms twist off-axis from the hips and legs.
Today has been wonderfully warm and sunny weather. Our apple trees started to bloom.
