Stream, Taylor Dam

Once more I visited the Taylor Dam….one of my favourite places in Marlborough. The light was lovely and there was a breeze just ruffling the lake, the main water body.
A stopbank has parking along the top, is fringed with trees and is slightly elevated thus affording views of the lake in one direction and the actual Taylor River which is running adjacent to the lake. The river at this point takes the excess water during flood events and carries it to the outflow under the earth dam itself. Once the water flow becomes excessive in the river it starts to build up and then to back up into the lake itself. That is when we can get quite dramatic looking floods.
But today the stream of the Taylor River was flowing placidly towards the outflow and was allowing for lovely tranquil reflections.
