No shrinking violet
Testing and writing about cars means that most weeks I am driving something different, and most test cars come in sensible monochrome shades of silver, black and white. They're the ones with the best re-sale value, down the line on the used car market.
The cannier car companies, though, know that bright colours look good on magazine pages and website screen views, and so specify their press fleet cars in something a bit more eye-catching. Not many are quite as in-yer-face as this one, though. I feel very conspicuous driving around in this stinging yellow Skoda Fabia.
Back in the bad old days of Skoda pre-Volkswagen Group ownership, a yellow one would have attracted all kinds of mirth and endless quips about a banana on wheels or driving a lemon. Nobody laughs at them now though. Although ... I'm off to a motor industry driving day tomorrow and I'm expecting the odd chortle about needing sunglasses to look at it.
