Day One
Crossing over the Hudson River, warmed by the seat of the car and munching on pretzels, we are on our way home. I am one year older today, which I'm taking in stride. My kids still think I'm twenty nine. My sweetheart stopped at the store near home to pick up my birthday gift. It was really a gift to the children...some sort of extreme fit program that hooks up to the television and all sorts of physical games can be played on it. Bowling, car racing, yoga, dancing, etc.
I had to remind myself repeatedly that this was only Friday, all though it really felt like Saturday, like the weekend was almost over. That was a great gift in itself: more time than I thought I had. For the rest of the evening I watched the kids play on this, while I ate left over cheesecake (they did stick a candle in it and sang Happy Birthday), Christmas cookies, and handmade chocolates. I think I'm allowed this gluttonous behavior once a year :)
