The Twisted Hop

These two buildings in Poplar Lane had been earthquake strengthened so survived the quake, but they are looking very lonely now. Many old brick warehouse buildings had been converted to boutiques and bars to create a very popular entertainment area, but brick buildings didn't fare well in the quake so this is all that remains in Poplar Lane.

The sign says 'Construction Site" but I'm not sure that any construction is planned here in the near future. The Twisted Hop, a craft brewery, first opened in this lane in 2004 ........... and, fortunately, reopened in Ferry Rd in 2012.
