I could promise you things like big diamond rings,

In 1996, we went on a lovely holiday.

The babies were little. 2 and 5, and we got a bargain off Teletex Holidays, and we drove to France. We drove a long way to France, and shared the driving right through the night, taking turns to drive while the other slept.

When we arrived after 24 hours on the road, and a couple of hours on the boat, we found our little haven - an eight berth mobile home - complete with patio....

Below the patio were two half drums bursting to full with such a wild range of herbs, I couldn't identify them all. I adored them though.... I adored them so much I took cuttings of as many as I could (without emptying the drums) and brought them home with me :-)

These aren't the same herbs... since that excursion the originals which were replanted into a pottery urn grew and were identified as Basil, Rosemary, Thyme, Parsley, Coriander, Tarragon, Sage, and Mint. They grew, we used them, they grew more, and eventually went to seed...

I emptied the urn into my "wild garden" at the end of the lawn... and now I have a really wild garden which, when "tidied", emits the most amazing smells of a holiday in France.
