I've had a wonderful day today attending events for the Angus Book Award 2014. A superb event run in secondary schools in Angus. Authors of YA fiction are short listed and voted on by S2 pupils and tonight's ceremony saw winning author Matt Whyman receive his trophy and prize money.

Today I heard Sarah Hammond give an inspiring writer's tips talk to a group of students about her experience as an author and the thinking behind her book.

I took along the library copy of Sarah's book, The Night Sky in my Head, and asked her to sign it and leave a message for our readers.
