On the beach

We took Brownies down to the beach for a session with the RSPB. After a quick introduction about the RSPB our officer Sarah started the session with a Music Master game where the children copied rhythms with there hands. and then one became a detective trying to work out the Brownie that was changing the rhythm.
We then lisetened to our surroundings and made a list of the sounds we could hear, we produced music using our surroundings and then made up a poem of our favourite area of the beach.
This is one girls poem, I thought it was rather special :
I hear
The sea heaving up and crashing down,
The birds tweeting,
The rhododendron bush creaking and swaying in the breeze,
The birds squaking cries to each other.
Without a care in the world
The bird calmly sitting on the nest,
When the rain rages around and
the tops of the trees gently
swaying in the gathering breeze.
Nothing really wild yet but the rain is heavy.

And you may have guessed after a stunningly hot day it rained at 5.30 on and off for the hour as so we were there. Just watching the sunset now , back home and no rain since. Oh well, we had a great time anyway.

In this blip you can see the beach at Rosemarkie with the Beach Café on the right and you can just see the white of the lighthouse on the left. If you have really good eyes you maybe able to see a dog that was swimming way out with the seagulls and it swam and swam and eventually came out but was keen to go back in again.
