Dead Ball Situation, Aylesford

Day 138 of 365. Yesterday was one of my favourite days in a while - Arsenal finally won a trophy after many barren years of hopes endlessly dashed. It had got to the stage where I felt is if I'd stopped caring if we won or lost - I got resigned to accepting that we wouldn't win anything. Then we went 2-0 down and I was screaming and swearing at the telly at the top of my voice - my anger just stopped short of making the walls shake!
The phrase that seemed to be used in the commentary a lot was that Hull would probably only win if they took advantage of their "dead ball situations" - i.e. their free kicks and corners - and so it came to pass, but when Aaron Ramsey scored the winner all that mixture of fatalism, fury and indifference fell away and I was whooping with unadulterated joy. I celebrated with a couple of beers and spent the rest of the day with a huge smile on my face!
For some reason spotting this spiked "dead" ball made me think of yesterday's match.
