The Spring returns to the Springer

When I last showed a picture of this dog he was very anaemic, receiving a blood transfusion and suffering from a nasty disease called autoimmune thrombocytopaenia. At that time the red cells constituted less than 10% of his blood volume. Now that proportion has risen to 33% (this is still technically an anaemia because normal for a dog is between about 38 and 55% of the blood volume). The circulating platelet numbers are completely normal now too.

The dog, who's called Henderson, is returning to normal. He still feels a bit weak (wabbit as we say in Fife) and he's still on lots of drugs. He's going to survive. I expect he will gradually return to a Springy Springer lifestyle.

It's great to see such a lovely pink tongue!
