Anchan the Tokay Gecko

Anchan! We finally got a name for this blue beauty. He's named after a tea that brews a deep blue color. I can't believe I found a BLUE tea! Typically these geckos are not able to be handled well. This little sweetie is totally hand-tamed (not full grown yet either!) so he takes to handling great. He is still settling in, so he does wag his tail at me when I'm doing something he doesn't like, but that's the most sass I get out of him on any given day. Usually when I distrub him to feed, mist, water or to pull out the paper towels in the bottom of his enclosure.

Tokays are not beginner pets, I would say. They require heat and lots of humidity, not an ideal combination for a newbie.

I really love this guy though. My buddy made me hold him at the last expo, and so.. yeah he came home with me.

So much for down-sizing my reptiles. heh.

Been so utterly busy lately too. We're in the middle of a move, keeping up with the reptiles and amphibian crew we keep, and also keeping up with my sticker shop--which is definitely a job in itself. Stopped taking commissions for a little while until we're able to relax and settle in to the new place.

My Etsy shop, though has been an amazing opportunity for me that I created for myself! It's going so well and has opened so many artistic doors for me. All booked up through August for custom stickers and drawings already. A whirlwind for sure. Hoping for a shopfront locally as a print shop in five years. Will be awesome, even if most of my ordering is done online and comes in from other places.

That's really all in the life of Rachel. Enjoy my photograph of the beautiful Anchan! :)
