Red Breasted Merganser

A walk through the fresh snow in sub-freezing temperatures today, along the Water of Leith as usual.
One thing that I was determined to do was to put out a bit of food for my pal the robin from yesterday. His posing has attracted a bit of attention, so he deserves his seeds and delicious mealworms :)
Lots of folk out feeding the ducks, but this Red Breasted Merganser (Mergus serrator) was not interested in bread. Related to the goosander it's a saw-toothed duck, which dives for fish. I love their punk hairstyles :)
