Calistoga

Calistoga is a Californian restaurant, and it's also my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. Our friend Karen invited us out to lunch, and, as always, the food was wonderful. It's not expensive, it's very comfortable, the staff are lovely, and the food and drink are knockout. Thanks, Karen! :)

If you're local, it's worth signing up for their mailing list, as they have new dishes at the start of each month.

Calistoga is also home to Sideways Wines, and the owner Gordon travels to California regularly to source new wines for the restaurant. Wine is also on sale separately by the bottle, and their range is huge. Oh, and their wine tasting dinners, hosted by Alastair, are incredible.

The restaurant is the current holder of the "Speciality Restaurant of the Year" award at the Scottish Restaurant Awards.
