Cracks on Crowdy

Driving home this morning there was a heavy frost on the ground and I couldn?t resist heading for the moor to see whether Crowdy reservoir had frozen. When I arrived and got out the car I realised I was rather unprepared for the bitter bight in the air, with no gloves and no hat. I decided I could get some quick shots before my hands got to cold. I could hear a strange creaking noise as I got close to the water and began to realise it was thin sheets of ice bobbing up and down, knocking into each other and creaking. I walked across the dam to get further out to get a shot back across the water to the old building. I knew half way across the wall turned into railings so I could get a good shot from there but as the wall run out the bitter wind blowing down over the reservoir and over the ice was hitting me straight on. I got a few shots before my hands and nose froze and this was one of those shots.
