Going for Gold
Caitlin and Sorley were on stage at the Caird Hall in Dundee today as part of the massed National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCoS) Regional Choirs performing in the Going for Gold Concert. The choir numbered 210 children and were accompanied by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) conducted by Sir Christopher Bell as they sang Going for Gold a Sports Cantata written by Tom Cunningham who was in the audience.
The orchestra (and conductor) all entered into the "Sporting Spirit" of the occasion and were all dressed in various sporting garb, from judo suits, to cycling outfits (complete with helmets) and football strips. We were also entertained by two very amusing comperes, Owen and Olly, who raised more than a few laughs.
As well as the Cantata, the orchestra also treated us to Fanfare for the Common Man, The Chariots of Fire Theme and also the Flying theme from ET...apparently Sir Chris Hoy was inspired to take up cycling by that scene in ET - learned that today!
We also had a chance to catch-up with our very good friends, who also came along to the concert - a great afternoon in Dundee all round!
