2014 more running needed

Winners!

The second of our Footballaid matches this weekend brought us to home turf at Blackpool.

The "away" team was managed by former Blackpool and Northern Ireland forward Derek Spence, while the "home" team was managed by Burnley legend Terry Pashley. Terry brought an assistant with him so Derek roped me in as his assistant.

We've had great banter with the players, officials and opposition managers throughout.

Before the game we told the lads not to go 2 up in 8 minutes then lose 3-2 like Hull did yesterday. It was okay though because we went 2 up in 7 minutes! So that's all good.

We had a dilemma as to what to say to our team at half time as we led 5-1.

We decided clichés would be necessary.

You've not won anything yet.
Keep on the front foot.
Keep a high line.
Don't let them get in the ascendency
Keep your focus
And

Keep your high balls low! (our favourite)

We were right to say these things because the second half was a 3-3 draw. But it gave us a 8-4 win.

So very much
a game of two halves
It was all about taking chances
On balance the right result

Have a great week.
