Scary Plant

This is scary in so many ways - too big, too spiky, too ugly, too vigorous, too useless (OK - I've no idea where Gunnera fits in its biosphere/ecological niche, but it looks neither edible nor beautiful so .....).

An 'architectural' plant for garden designers.

I hate it, yet I am astonished by it every time it is used well.

A conundrum.
