An Artist's Life

Fire House

Another trip to town, we see the Hamilton Fire Department with its garages ready to spit out many shiny bilious green or red trucks of various configurations. the old bell-tower is now filled with ear-splitting claxons and sirens. All the fire departments, and there are many scattered about, are volunteer. When the sirens go off, you will see a bevy of able-bodied men dashing out of stores and various businesses to man the trucks. I've been asked more than once to "mind the store, please?"
Next to it stands the Masonic Hall and behind it, our Carnegie Library building. The library is still a very popular place and is filled daily. I get audio books to listen to in my studio, so I prowl the stacks regularly. I'm heading to the foundry next week and need some road words.....so off to the stacks I go.
