Sunset at the keyboard
It was a delicious day, full of music from start to finish. My student quartet got together this morning, and despite missing our viola player, managed to get in a solid two hour practice session. (fortunately for us, Jane is a switch hitter between violin and viola) The Haydn quartet is making good progress considering how few practices we've had. We hope to unveil our efforts at a house concert sometime this summer.
Just after quartet practice we attended the Whatcom Sound Jazz Singers "Jazz Exchange" where they were joined by the Seattle Jazz Singers, directed by Frank DeMiero. Two talented ensembles, each with their own unique sound and style, along with several talented instrumentalists on bass, piano, guitar, drums, trumpet and trombone, made for a very lively afternoon.
With our bellies full from a delicious meal downtown, it was time to head home and enjoy the sunset at the keys of my dear Knabe, truly a lifelong friend who has been at my side since I was seven years old. There's nothing quite like a good dose of music to sooth the ragged edges and put some color back in your cheeks! Play on!
