Just a Place to Call Your Own..

Himself visited this little island off the coast of Scotland when he was 14.

His parents had found an advert for it in the Sunday Post.

We had been chatting about it, and we found it again... still owned by the same family, and still offering the houses out for let.

We booked ourselves in, and read the literature (minimal) which came with it. There was no electricity. There was running water, which varied in colour and speed. There were no cars on the island. There were no shops. The closest shop was a twenty minute sail across the strait.

We took the Pier house, which was the same house himself stayed in. Three Double Bedrooms. a living room, kitchen and bathroom. Gas Lighting, and a wood burner in the living room. It was heaven.

This was the pier - next to the pier house. Yes, the house looked out over this - open water, mainland a mile across the way, trees, porpoises, the occasional otter.

It was definitely heaven on earth.
