Remenham & Henley
It was another beautiful, warm day today and I heard on the news that the temperature in the UK was warmer than both Rome and Athens! I decided to embark on another walk along the Thames, this time enjoying the cooler temperature of an evening walk. We started in Aston and walked via Hambledon Lock to Remenham, just outside Henley, which you can see in the background of this picture.
The course that you can see in the river is laid out for the Henley Royal Regatta, an international boat race which takes place in July each year. The course starts at Temple Island, just behind me, and continues to Henley, a mile away. The Henley Regatta started in 1839 and the course was also used for the Olympics in 1908 and 1948. However, the nearby Dorney Lake in Eton was used for the 2012 Olympic rowing events.
