Coypu at lake Salagou - worth enlarging - there were 4 and some great crested grebes - such a pleasure to be able to watch these wild animals at their toilette, their socialising and their swimming out to the reeds for a meal. A wonderful day with lunch in Ann's ancient house at Lacoste, a walk with a local pressure group at Octon trying to keep their 300 year old or more waterway system of channels from the river abovr the village from being allowed to stop working and water being pumped from the lake instead. And finally we joined two other couples for supper cooked in an enormous oven fired by brushwood. We had made loads of pies, bread, pizza, tomato and potato dishes to cook which were loaded into the oven on a huge paddle. We ate our fill with the remainders being taken home to sustain everyone during the coming week.
