Looking West

We had a very Bordery/Walter Scotty day today, first going to Abbotsford to see the new arrangement (very nice, the house just the 'tasteful' same. I enjoyed the new exhibition too, and looking at the old visitor books (Did Knud Borring the architect from Copenhagen realise that he was there at the same time as Oscar Wilde, or indeed at the same time as Richard Lees, woollen cloth manufacturer of Galashiels? Mr and Mrs Dickens didn't go unnoticed, especially given his big scrolly signature.)

Afterwards to Smailholm, where coincidentally Scott stayed with his relatives while recovering from Polio, and then the spectacular views form Hundy-Mundy.

First asparagus of the season and all!
