Or rather, party in(to).

Despite the German language having fewer words than the English, there are words it has that English doesn't.

Take reinfeiern for example. It's considered bad luck here to celebrate your birthday before the event* but if your birthday falls on a Sunday you might want to celebrate on the Saturday before, and so you reinfeiern**, you party into your birthday - this does of course mean that you have to keep partying until past midnight.

The reason for this grammar lesson is due to the teen becoming one year older tomorrow, and this evening my garden will be hosting various other teens and crates of beer, I'm seriously considering hiding my vodka and the tequila and the brandy and warning him that if my hoard of sekt and champagne is touched he will be replacing it!


* something most of us expats don't understand and don't adhere to either, I mean, if there's a possibility you might die before your birthday why not celebrate it early...
