at home with an Ivysaurus

Yawn

Euan's story reading wasn't boring her- she just has a tiring life.

I finished sewing up my breastfeeding t-shirt today. I'm very pleased I went from idea to pattern to protype to finished article in less than 48 hours. I even reinforced the seams- it's very wearable, but the second version is going to have some adjustments to make it closer to perfect! Sewing with an Ivy about is like having a inquisitive cat- she's determined to sit on all the fabric whilst cutting it out and there's a wonky hem on the shoulder where she played with the machine's foot pedal.

I keep catching sight of Ivy standing up without holding onto anything- but she always grabs hold of something/ sits down before I can get a camera out. I'm noticing she's increasingly aware of the space she takes up more- for example she now ducks her head to crawl under the bar across the dining room chairs. When she lost a ball she was playing with under her cot- she lay down with her head on the floor to look for it.

Got a letter from the pediatrician today to summarise his findings from our last visit. It contains the phrase 'has normal female genitalia'- i've suggested we keep it for her wedding day for Euan's father of the bride speach, as in 'son, I give you my daughter with a clear conscience because I have an official document to prove she has noraml female genitalia'. Dissapointing we don't still live in a world of dowries, it could even have saved us some money... Joking aside, it's nice to have an official piece of paper that says Ivy isn't unwell- just small.

For lunch she had a chicken veloute. Made for her (and only her, we had boring pasta) from scratch by Euan. He got to combine his two great loves- pretentious cooking and Ivy.

We tried putting her down for a late afternoon nap today (after she yawned through the pictured story) but it seems to have backfired. As I write it's 9pm and she's still awake- when I went up to see her last she was walking round her cot in her grow bag and giggling.
