A Good Drying Day
After being at work all week, it was wonderful to wake to a lovely day and to be able to go for a lovely long walk. Dropped BB at school and headed off – it was such a lovely day and the breeze was warm for the first time. Lots of blip opportunities – BB on his bike to school (we were timing the journey to school for his homework!), the river, the oil seed rape field that I walked round, the woods, the carpet of wild garlic, the Colstoun Burn with sand martins flying in and out of their nests on the sandy river bank.
I wanted to see what all the tractors in the distance were up to – which resulted in a longer walk than I had planned. They were planting cabbages (or perhaps sprouts) and there was lots going on in the field. It was after this that I realised I didn’t have time to keep stopping to take photographs. I had to speed up or I would be late for the school pick up. So, picked up my speed and yomped the four miles home – spotting a heron in the river, a new wind turbine, a tree peony growing at the edge of the wood (someone must have dumped some garden rubbish) and some lovely old farm buildings.
Got to school in time, but was completely ignored by BB as headed off to the football field with his friends! We did meet up - further up the road - when his friends had gone their separate ways. No fencing today, so we visited a friend this afternoon (where delicious cake was consumed!) before BB’s swimming lesson. In amongst all this I did a mountain of washing and got it all dry!
Lots of hawthorn blossom in all the hedges – makes for a pretty blip.
