3 Minute Wonder
I'm back-blipping to document my talk at the Royal Institution at the Institute of Physics 3 Minute Wonder grand final. What a mouthful that was!
You may remember that Hannah Wakeford and I both got through the regional heats for this science communication competition wherein scientists have to explain their work in only 3 minutes to a crowd of interested people (non-specialist) and a panel of judges.
Well, the grand final saw 14 contestants from all over the country assemble to compete head-to-head. The panel of judges was very prestigious: Simon Singh (Fermat's Last Theorem), Lucie Green (Sky at Night and Stargazing Live), Steve Mould (The One Show and Festival of the Spoken Nerd) and Lindsay A Keith (The Refinery TV).
Although I didn't win, I was happy with my delivery. The overall winner was Hannah Wakeford (pictured) - didn't she do well? I think we've done a good job of representing the University of Exeter!
It was such a joy to be able to talk about my research in this historic building. My mum and dad both came, as did several other friends, so I had a really lovely time.
